You can cross reference product numbers with customer part numbers, thereby making it easier to find customer specific products during Sales Order Entry or on eCommerce shopping. Use part numbers if your customer identifies a product by a different name than you do. These numbers will print on the shipping confirmation and the invoice, and they may be used to reserve products.
Reserving a product indicates that the product has been acquired and stocked for purchase by the selected customer, and that the salesman is responsible for moving the merchandise. Reserved products appear on the Reserved Inventory Report, allowing the remaining inventory amounts can be monitored. Reserved products can still be purchased by other customers. See Report on reserved inventory levels.
