Cycle counting is the audit process of counting subsets of your inventory on a specific day to ensure accuracy. This process is opposed to a full physical inventory, which counts all of your product at once. Cycle counts are less disruptive and provide an ongoing assurance of inventory accuracy.
Using Inform ERP, you can set up manual cycle counting, in which you create cycle count groups, add products, and then manually count inventory; or you can use Inform ERP's automatic cycle counting functionality.
The procedure below is the manual process in which you create cycle counting groups and pick products to add to it, and then count and track offline.
You can use this process, but we recommend that you use the automatic cycle counting tools: see Configure and run cycle counting.

- Go to File > Product > Cycle Count Group.
- Click New.
- In the Cycle Count Group box, using up to 12 characters, type a brief description of the cycle count group, and then press the Tab key.
- In the Description box, type up to 30 characters of a more user friendly description.
- Click Save. You can now assign products to this cycle count group.

Tip: The fastest way to add multiple products to a cycle count group is through mass change. See Update data in bulk using mass change. You can also add one product at a time to a group using the procedure below.
- Go to File > Product > Master.
- In the Product box, type or search for the product you want to assign to a cycle count group.
- Click Edit.
- Click the General tab.
- In the Cycle Count Group box, click
and then choose the group in which you want to count the product during inventory.
- Click Save.

- Go to File > Product > Cycle Count Group.
- In the Cycle Count Group box, type or search
for the group that you want to edit. Press the Tab key.
- Click Edit.
- Modify the Description of the cycle count group.
- Click Save.

- Edit a cycle count as described above.
- Click Delete.
- On the Confirmation message that appears, click OK.

- Go to File > Product > Cycle Count Group.
- Click Report.
- On the Field Selection pop-up that appears, you can choose which fields appear. Drag the fields into the Print Order area, and then click OK.
- On the Print Document pop-up, click View.
